Does a sour cream based dip firm up after chilling in fridge?

hi

i made a dip for a party. it seems too watery -- it has shrimp, sour cream, cream cheese and seasonings. after it chills in the fridge for a few hours, do you think it will firm up?

Thanks!Does a sour cream based dip firm up after chilling in fridge?
Yes it will. It's good to let the dip marinate with the seasonings and ingredients for about a couple of hours. Just make sure you combine the ingredients well before putting in the fridge. The sour cream and cheese will absorb the seasonings and should firm up to a creamy texture. It may be watery because the cream cheese may not have sat out at room temperature to become softer or the shrimp may have been a little 'watery'.

In that case, if there still seems to be a watery consistency, what will work is to chop a can or two of drained water chestnuts. They add a nice little crunch but will absorb some extra liquids in a dip.

Just stir your dip before you serve to evenly distribute any liquids if there still is...it'll be creamy again.

Your dip sounds yummy!Does a sour cream based dip firm up after chilling in fridge?
It should. :)
YES!! with out any doubt, with the cream cheese it may even become to thick and you may have to thin it out.
yes, it should. then it will be great, let it set for like a day.
Possibly not, as cooked shrimp, especially if it was frozen, does have extra water. Try it and see, but if it doesn't, you can add mozzarella cheese to the mixture in sufficient quantity to firm it up without significantly changing the flavor.
